Cerrowire, a prominent copper building wire maker in the United States, celebrated the grand opening of its new 270,000-SF Metal Clad (MC) cable production facility.
During the ceremony, 200 persons, including local and state authorities, contractors, employees, and their families, cut the “ribbon” of MC Cable.
Cerrowire enters the Metal Clad Cable market with novel marks and enhancements that allow electricians to install faster and more accurately. The inspection process is also sped up by bold marks that show the gauge, conductors within, sequential footage, and the easiest way to pull.
MC cable is commonly used in the construction of commercial buildings such as hospitals, multi-family housing, large restaurants, and commercial arenas. It is utilized in both new construction and remodeling. MC Cable is extremely versatile because it may be inserted inside or attached to walls.
Cerrowire’s $100 million investment in a state-of-the-art, Made in the USA manufacturing facility yields solid and stranded Type MC Cable offerings, as well as seven of the most popular specialty MC Cables: Lighting (PCS), Healthcare (HCF), All-Purpose (AP), Oversized Neutral (OSN), Multi Neutral (MN), HCF-AC, and Fire Alarm (FPLP).
Cerrowire President Stewart Smallwood was all smiles after years of planning and construction, telling the crowd, “The completion of this plant in North Alabama has already created one hundred advanced manufacturing jobs and we know with the demand for Cerrowire MC Cable, that number will grow.”
Cerrowire has been in business for 103 years, beginning in 1920 as Circle Flexible Conduit Company, producing the forerunner of contemporary Metal Covered Cable. Five production plants in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, and Utah produce copper construction wire throughout the United States.
