Hurricane, high-wind zones get added protection with launch of new StormMax Level E products from Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope

StormMax Level E, which has the industry’s highest safety rating, meets the standards for vital buildings in Florida’s High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) as well as impact resistant wind zones 3 and 4 along the Southeast and Southwest coasts.

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE), a global leader in architectural glass, metal, and hardware, announced the addition of StormMax Level E to its trusted StormMax storefront and entrance product portfolio. Engineered to satisfy ASTM Large Missile Level E requirements, the FG-5750 and FG-5750T StormMax Storefront and Rugged StormMax Entrances use impact-tested glass to provide unsurpassed protection against extreme weather and high-velocity hurricane impacts.

StormMax Level E, which has the industry’s highest safety rating, meets the standards for vital buildings in Florida’s High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) as well as impact resistant wind zones 3 and 4 along the Southeast and Southwest coasts. In addition to Florida, hurricane-hit states Louisiana and Texas, as well as North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, will benefit from improved storm protection.

StormMax Level E elegantly integrates natural light, resulting in spectacular daylight openings while providing powerful protection. It can accommodate insulating laminated glass and provides high impact resistance through numerous glass layers and insulating characteristics. It is an all-in-one solution that simplifies installation by including both glass and frames, which have been tested together to assure precision, performance, and reliability.

“As a single-source provider of both glass and metal, OBE is able to offer StormMax Level E along with Level D and Level A to simplify project management and ensure perfect compatibility and regulatory compliance,” Regan Axtell, the product manager, said.

StormMax Level E complies with the Florida Building Code, HVHZ, and International Building Codes. It successfully passes big (Level E) and minor (Level A) missile impact tests, such as ASTM E1886, ASTM E1996. It has been approved in Florida and evaluated by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).

Every StormMax project satisfies the highest levels of safety and design integrity, providing peace of mind and unwavering protection against violent storm effects.
