Simpson Strong-Tie Introduces High-Capacity, Load-Rated Concealed Beam Hanger for Mass Timber Construction

The Simpson Strong-Tie HSKP heavy seated knife plate, a high-capacity, welded concealed beam hanger for mass timber structures designed to meet heavy loads while providing a hidden-connector, wood-only design aesthetic, has been introduced by Simpson Strong-Tie, a maker of engineered structural connectors and building solutions.

The HSKP is a code-listed, easy-to-install connector designed specifically to meet some of the heaviest mass timber beam loads. It can support bigger mass timber beams while still delivering a robust, secure wood-to-wood or wood-to-steel connection.

The HSKP, which is installed in the factory with Strong-Drive SDCF Timber-CF structural screws, saves time on the jobsite and has a generous fit-up tolerance for easy beam placement. The HSKP is code rated for high-capacity loads up to 32 kips and is appropriate for a variety of heavy beam applications requiring loads ranging from 20 to 32 kips.

“We’re excited to expand the range of our popular concealed beam hangers for mass timber,” explains Thom Murphy, Senior Product Manager at Simpson Strong-Tie. “Along with our other structural solutions for mass timber, the HSKP will provide a heavy-duty solution to designers and contractors working on high-load mass timber projects, and delivers additional versatility to help build safer, stronger buildings, faster.”

The Simpson Strong-Tie HSKP is manufactured in the United States and is widely available through the Simpson Strong-Tie nationwide distribution network. It provides verified strength, simplifies and expedites installation, and is supported by expert service and support. Visit Simpson Strong-Tie’s website to learn more.
