The new DrainBaseä tile’s open grid design provides the same great drainage functionality, performance, and ease of installation as before, but in a more ecologically friendly and substantially less expensive format.
Ultra Base, the industry leader in base systems for artificial grass and other recreational surfaces, is pleased to announce its new DrainBaseä modular tile system. Based on the established success of its prior drain tile product, the new DrainBaseä tile’s open grid design provides the same great drainage functionality, performance, and ease of installation as before, but in a more ecologically friendly and substantially less expensive format.
Working together with an innovative new resin supplier, Ultra Base’s R&D and manufacturing teams created techniques that could use 100% recycled materials while retaining the functionality, durability, and structural support of its existing drain tile.
“One of our primary goals at The Recreational Group is to look for ways to make more environmentally friendly products,” stated Josh Nelson, Vice President. “In this case our work really paid off as we not only made a more environmentally friendly tile, but we reduced the cost pretty significantly as well.”
The new DrainBaseä tile will be less expensive than the existing Ultra Base drain tile, as well as other modular drain tile solutions on the market.
Furthermore, the smaller 10″ x 10″ DrainBaseä tiles produce less scrap after installation than the bigger 32″ x 32″ tiles on the market. This not only saves money, but it’s also better for the environment and builds a stronger foundation.
The tile’s capacity to form a strong basis can also be credited to its unique interlocking mechanism, which has 24 locking points. This feature, combined with the open grid design, creates a fast-draining but robust, solid base that results in a smooth, level surface with no “honeycomb voids.”
Tiles are normally sold in 4 x 4 sheets, covering around 11.4 square feet, and can be easily installed without the need for tools or equipment.
