DEWALT Introduces Groundbreaking Equipment System: DEWALT POWERSHIFT, an Electrified Line of Heavy-Duty Tools to Optimize Workflow on Concrete Jobsites

DEWALT, a Stanley Black & Decker brand and a leader in entire worksite solutions, today announced the release of DEWALT POWERSHIFT, a ground-breaking equipment system that uses electrification to optimize the productivity of concrete job sites. Designed to address the critical needs of concrete professionals – power, runtime, and ergonomics – the electrified line will enable users to shift away from gas-powered equipment while maintaining efficiency and performance. The system, which consists of six concrete tools, streamlines the entire concrete application by using the same DEWALT POWERSHIFT 554 WH battery and high-speed charger for all tools. It is supported by DEWALT’s robust line of complementary tools, accessories, and technologies.

“As we kick off DEWALT’s 100th anniversary year, our guiding principle of making pros more productive holds strong with the launch of DEWALT POWERSHIFT,” remarked Frank Mannarino, President of Stanley Black & Decker’s Power Tools Group. “DEWALT POWERSHIFT is launching at a time when the industry is increasingly preparing for electrification, particularly as construction sites respond to statewide legislation aimed at phasing out gas-powered tools. As part of this effort, DEWALT is providing a solution that electrifies the concrete workflow to maximize cost and time savings, while minimizing the environmental impact for the user. These user advantages are paramount to innovating in accordance with our purpose to empower Those Who Make the World.”

The DEWALT POWERSHIFT line launched at the World of Concrete Trade Show in Las Vegas on January 23 with the following products:

    • Battery and Charger: A high-power density battery with a capacity of 554WH weighs only 11.5 pounds. for extended runtime and optimum ergonomics. A high-rate charger may recharge the battery in less than an hour.
    • Plate Compactor: Provides 3,370ft lbs. of force through its 15.7-inch. plate with controls positioned on an ergonomically designed folding handle for better user control and comfort.
    • Rammer: 2,660 ft. lbs. Impact force is combined with antivibration insulators and controls positioned on the two-position grip.
    • Backpack vibrator: Weighs only 25 pounds. It comes with the DEWALT POWERSHIFT battery installed and has a tough roll cage with a fully adjustable hi-vis harness.
    • Powerpack Vibrator: Can be activated remotely using DEWALT Wireless Tool Control and comes with an over-the-body hi-vis harness for simple transport.
    • Power Screed: Includes completely adjustable handles for custom height and width, as well as ambidextrous controls that can be put on either handle.
    • Core Drill and Stand: Designed with minimal wall or ceiling clearance. The drill, part of the DEWALT PERFORM & PROTECT range of equipment, includes anti-rotation technology to avoid over-rotation in a tie up condition.
    • Adaptor: DEWALT FLEXVOLT to DEWALT POWERSHIFT adaptor that allows you to use DEWALT FLEXVOLT batteries to extend the runtime of your DEWALT POWERSHIFT equipment.

The DEWALT POWERSHIFT series, as an essential component of DEWALT’s whole workflow solution, provides fully integrated connectivity with the DEWALT Site Manager app, allowing users to view statistics on asset management, tool placement, utilization, and safety. Furthermore, Converge’s AI-based platform ConcreteDNA, driven by data from DEWALT’s wireless concrete sensors, interprets real-time data, allowing users to monitor compressive strength gain in concrete and predict when it will reach critical strength.

Other new product innovations will be displayed at the DEWALT stand, including TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 DXL, a revolutionary modular system comprised of four 30-in. Products include a countertop, two-drawer unit, deep drawer, and dolly, which combine to produce an orderly transportable solution that keeps users productive on the job.

Taking a Pulse on the Shift to Electrification

To better understand the prospects and challenges of electrifying future project sites, DEWALT launched a survey called “Power Pulse,” which interviewed construction industry experts such as decision makers and experienced craftworkers. According to the survey, 89% of construction professionals believe their sites are adequately prepared for the switch to completely electric-powered tools.

Survey data from construction professionals eventually dispelled common assumptions about the efficiency and runtime of electric-powered tools. While professionals frequently mentioned power supply (44%) and tool durability (39%) as concerns about electric-powered tools, 68% of those who switched to these equipment on the job believe it has helped them to accomplish projects two to three times faster than gas-powered tools. Furthermore, 72% of electric-powered tool users report being satisfied or very satisfied with the switch to electric-powered tools on their building site.

Other key findings of DEWALT’s Power Pulse Survey include:

    • Gas Is No Longer Reliable: Construction workers reported more problems or malfunctions with gas-powered tools (59%) than electric-powered instruments (45%).
    • Availability and Education Barriers: Construction professionals mention a shortage of electric-powered equipment for their area of work (38%) and a lack of awareness of their capabilities (36%), as the key reasons for not employing electric-powered tools.
    • Going Green Pose a Challenge: Fifty-three percent (53%) of construction professionals claim they have passed up a bid owing to an inability to commit to sustainability rules or lost a bid due to compliance issues.
    • Wide-Ranging Benefits: When compared to gas-powered tools, the most significant advantages of electric-powered tools for construction workers are safety (46%), convenience of use (44%), increased time savings (42%), and cheaper maintenance and operating costs (36%).
    • Wear-and-Tear of Everyday Work: The physical strain of utilizing heavy machinery is the most common stressor on job sites, cited by 47% of skilled workers and 46% of construction managers.

DEWALT POWERSHIFT will be accessible through commercial and industrial channels in fall 2024.
