MoistureShield Debuts the New Aegis Clip for Composite Decking

MoistureShield, a division of CRH Company Oldcastle APG, introduces the MoistureShield Aegis Clip, which has a 90-degree installation technique for grooved boards and can be used on wood or steel joist systems.

Aegis, which is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene for long-term strength and durability, complements MoistureShield Deck Clips as an option to match today’s rising trend toward metal framing and difficult situations.

Aegis Clips have pre-installed screws and beveled edges, as well as teeth that slot into the groove to help control lateral movement.

It is appropriate for metal, ACQ, and other Pressure-Treated joists.

The 90-degree installation technique makes installing and replacing deck boards simple, with a tight fit for improved stability and consistent 3/16″ spacing between deck boards.

Aegis has increased gripping power as well as a lifetime warranty against loose deck boards.

“We are continuously looking for solutions that help our MoistureShield deck builders get the most seamless installation possible,” said Matthew Bruce, Vice President of Sales at MoistureShield.

“We recognize more pros are using metal deck frames, and Aegis Clips accommodate both wood and metal with strength and stability.”

Deck builders can use Aegis to choose the type of screws that work best in various climates, with the option of carbon or stainless steel pre-inserted screws.

The clips are available in buckets of 250 square feet with 450 fasteners and buckets of 50 square feet with 90 fasteners.

Both buckets include a T15 Star Driver Bit for wood and metal frames, and the package markings indicate frame and screw compatibility.

Both the Starter Clip Pack and the Finisher Clip Pack, which contain 25 starter clips and 25 screws, are sold separately (estimated for 250 sq. ft deck). The first Aegis Clips will be available in the United States.
