IDEAL Electrical Launches Groundbreaking Circuit Tracer Models with Latest Technology

The IDEAL Electrical SureTrace Circuit Tracer (61-946) and the IDEAL Electrical SureTrace Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) will improve the popular SureTrace line by combining cutting-edge technology at a lower cost.

IDEAL Electrical is thrilled to announce the addition of two revolutionary circuit tracer models to its industry-leading product portfolio. The IDEAL Electrical SureTrace Circuit Tracer (61-946) and the IDEAL Electrical SureTrace Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) will improve the popular SureTrace line by combining cutting-edge technology at a lower cost.

The new models were created with electrician feedback to make electrical troubleshooting easier than before. The Plus (61-948) edition sets itself apart with a game-changing new feature: an integrated continuity test to detect shorts and splice problems. In addition to this patent-pending innovation, the PLUS will include the IDEAL Electrical signature test and measurement technology (TightSight rotating display), which makes readings easier and clearer than anything else on the market.

“IDEAL Electrical has been a leader in the circuit tracing industry since we developed the original circuit tracer 19 years ago,” stated Carmen Cardillo, General Manager at IDEAL Electrical. “We are proud to build upon this legacy with the launch of new models that raise the bar with their superior jobsite performance.” Ideal circuit tracers are an invaluable tool that saves electricians valuable time on the job site. Using a circuit tracer, electricians can rapidly identify the breaker or fuse that protects a specific circuit, eliminating the need for lengthy manual testing. Circuit tracers also allow electricians to quickly discover splice faults, dead shorts, and concealed conductors, including those located in difficult ceiling and floor positions. This streamlines the troubleshooting process and reduces downtime on the project. It also enables multiple troubleshooting activities to be performed by a single individual.

“With a circuit tracer, one tool can do everything, so there’s no need to grab your multimeter for taking readings,” said Greg Anliker, a professional electrician from Elgin, Illinois, who tested the latest devices. “IDEAL SureTrace circuit tracers give the most consistent and precise readings of any tracer I’ve ever used. “The most recent models are more affordable and feature-packed than ever.”

The first of the new variants, the SureTrace Circuit Tracer (61-946), is certified up to CAT III 480V and has a redesigned chip design for better performance. This low-cost variant features an ergonomic, durable design that improves grip and durability, allowing the circuit tracer to resist a drop of up to two meters (about six and a half feet). Furthermore, the circuit tracer receiver’s incorporated illumination makes it easier to use in low-light situations, and the transmitter has a kickstand and an optional magnetic hanging strap for versatile setup or hanging choices.

The IDEAL Electrical SureTrace Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) offers all of the upgrades of the 61-946 model, as well as additional functions. The PLUS is rated up to CAT III 600V and has color-coded indications for voltage levels (AC or DC), DC polarity, and PPE notification. The innovative TightSight display on the bottom of this model’s receiver allows electricians to view the tracer while accessing cables overhead or deep within a distribution panel. The IDEAL SureTrace Plus Circuit Tracer is unique in the market as it includes a patent-pending built-in continuity tester. Chris Forthaus, Product Manager at IDEAL Electrical, describes it as a game changer. “The Plus is truly an all-in-one solution that can trace, test for and locate shorts or splice errors without the need for a separate tester.”

IDEAL Electrical is pleased to expand its circuit tracer capabilities with these new upgraded variants. IDEAL remains committed to leading advancements in this industry to meet the changing needs of electricians.
