Moen Leverages AI to Safeguard Homes with the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff

Moen has led the smart water revolution since 2019, providing consumers with the ability to proactively protect their homes from the unexpected with the Flo Smart Water Monitor and ShutOff.

When it comes to home safety, it’s difficult to protect against what can’t be seen. This is why water damage frequently goes undiscovered until it’s too late. Moen is now harnessing artificial intelligence to make this gadget even more powerful, providing unparalleled protection and peace of mind.

Even a minor leak can cause extensive damage to a property over time, resulting in costly repairs and, in the worst-case scenario, the loss of valuable, sentimental belongings. Water damage is claimed six times more than fire and eight times more than theft, accounting for 24% of all insurance claims; over the next 10 years, one in every six houses will submit a claim for water damage and freezing for an average of $12,500*.

Enter the Flo Smart Water Monitor and turn it off. The device is connected to a home’s main water supply pipe and runs in the background, always checking for potential water issues. Featuring powerful AI with upgraded FloSense 3.0 Technology and MicroLeak Technology, the gadget learns the home’s specific water usage habits and can detect leaks as little as one drop per minute, as well as other possible issues, with unparalleled precision. If it senses an irregularity in usage or the beginnings of a catastrophic leak, it can intervene proactively by instantly shutting off the water supply to prevent damage to the residence.

It can also detect problems such as running toilets and minor leaks. It will even purge water lines to prevent freezing and the buildup of stagnant water that occurs while you are away. Homeowners receive alerts and can monitor and manually control their home’s water from anywhere using their app. Taking advantage of Moen’s Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, 60 percent of those who have used the gadget since its inception identified a leak they were unaware they had within 30 days. The device has also discovered and notified consumers to over two million possible home water leaks.**

“If you’ve ever experienced leaks or damage from water in your home, you never want to experience it again. It’s costly, emotionally draining, and can uproot your life for extended periods of time,” Suzy Kummer, senior product manager, Moen Smart Water Network says. “Damaged pipes are a primary cause of home flooding*, and the Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff not only prevents these water events entirely but also provide peace of mind, which most of us cherish over anything else.”

In addition to security and control, the Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can help to strengthen and automate household conservation efforts. Homeowners can track water usage by fixture type and set conservation goals to be more resource conscious.

“There is no questioning the impact and power this product can have on consumers’ wallets, home security and water conservation,” Kummer added. “The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can reduce more than 90 percent of annual household water waste, and when you realize the average home wastes nearly 10,000 gallons of water per year due to leaks***, that’s a lot of water. Just imagine the savings if every homeowner in America had one of these products.”

    Whole-Home Protection
The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can be placed on its own or as part of a larger home ecosystem. The device, which serves as the brain of Moen’s Smart Water Network, is critical in improving every aspect of residential water use. This totally integrated system allows you to monitor your water usage and detect leaks in your pipes 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while also providing exact temperature and volume control over water coming from the Smart Faucet or Smart Shower. It can also be combined with other leak detection products, such as the Smart Sump Pump Monitor and Smart Leak Detectors, to avoid leaks and flood damage. These innovative smart water items link via the Moen Smart Water App, allowing you to enjoy seamless integration and many more automated features that will improve and redefine how you use water at home.
