This revolutionary new addition to Leviton’s product line is intended to address the growing demand for larger electrical service in large-scale residential applications, fully electrified homes, and future-proofing installations.
Leviton announced the introduction of its first 400 Amp Meter Main Load Center, as well as a 300 Amp variant. This revolutionary new addition to Leviton’s product line is intended to address the growing demand for larger electrical service in large-scale residential applications, fully electrified homes, and future-proofing installations. With this new product, Leviton continues to supply advanced electrical solutions that meet the changing needs of modern homes and installations.
These higher-amperage Meter-Combination Load Centers are designed to deliver more power and flexibility. Each unit includes a factory-installed main breaker (200A or 150A) and a 12-space distribution section, which is commonly utilized for convenient wiring of outdoor circuits.
- The panel’s utility compartment contains:
- 320 Class (400A) Meter Socket
- 5th Jaw is factory installed.
- Lever Bypass and Ringless Cover
The load centers also have feed-thru lugs and a supplementary main breaker mounting piece, allowing contractors to adjust the total amperage up to 400A. The two major breaker portions are separated by an internal barrier, ensuring compliance with the most recent standards stated in NEC 2020, article 230.71. A growing number of utilities, including MEG, have accepted the latest addition to the Leviton Load Center lineup. This adaptability guarantees that the load centers may be modified to fit the individual requirements of any installation, making them an ideal solution for a variety of applications, including:
- Larger residential buildings: The increased amperage of the new load center makes it an excellent choice for custom builds, particularly larger-scale projects. With one solution, builders can be confident that they have enough amperage for projects of all sizes, including those larger than 4000 square feet.
- Electrified homes: As more builders and homeowners seek to decarbonize their homes through electric appliances, electric vehicles, and other means, higher amperage is required to maintain the status quo of activity. 300A and 400A systems provide dependable electricity in electrified houses. This also provides flexibility for models with higher electrical requirements, such as EV chargers, pool pumps, and in-home saunas.
- Future-proofing new builds: Amperage flexibility allows homeowners to increase their electrical needs, such as replacing gas appliances with electric or installing a sauna, without having to worry about updating their electrical service.
“Leviton is proud to engineer products that are the foundation of a strong electrical infrastructure, and the 300A and 400A load centers enable us to serve even more customers in the residential sector,” said Aaron Ard, Vice President of Product Management. “Whether it’s larger new builds, electrifying appliances and heating and cooling systems, or adding onto existing homes, electrical needs are increasing, and these new offerings are ready to help meet that demand.”
