Artists from throughout the country are invited to apply for a chance to live and work for free in a cutting-edge residential complex in South Florida, which will open in the spring of 2022.
The Cymbal DLT Arts Foundation, established by Cymbal Development and DLT Global, is pleased to announce the launch of its Artists-in-Residence Program at Oasis Pointe Residences, Cymbal Development, and DLT Global’s newest design-driven, multi-unit waterfront apartment complex set to open in Dania Beach in Spring 2022.
The program’s purpose is to emphasize the arts community’s diversity, originality, and soul, as well as to advocate for artists working in a variety of media and artistic techniques.
The foundation is presently accepting applications from artists across the country for the 2022 Artists-in-Residence Program.
As part of the Artists-in-Residence Program, Oasis Pointe is inviting up-and-coming creatives from various professional backgrounds, demographics, career phases, and artistic styles to live and work for free in its state-of-the-art residential facility for up to six months.
Artists’ partners, children, and dogs are welcome at all times during the presentation.
Artists must hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D., be starting a professional route in the arts, or be looking to use the residency to nurture a project to be eligible.
“South Florida is known for its vibrant art communities, including museums, colorful street murals, art walks, exhibitions, studios, and Art Basel, the leading global platform connecting collectors, galleries, and artists,” says Asi Cymbal, president of Cymbal Development.
“In an ideal world, art would be free and accessible for everyone, and that is why we felt it was imperative to launch an Artists-in-Residence Program where we can provide a unique opportunity for creatives to advance their careers through access to our space, community connections, and financial support.”
Artists will be allowed to reside at Oasis Pointe rent-free and completely furnished for up to six months.
After completing their residency, successful applicants and their families may be asked to prolong their stay at Oasis Pointe or any other Cymbal DLT community in South Florida.
In exchange, the Artists-in-Residence Program proposes that up to two original pieces be donated to Oasis Pointe’s permanent collection and displayed in the building’s common areas.
The scope of the work will be set in consultation with the artist.
Artists will be asked to share their practice on the property at least once during their stay, either through an open studio or a lecture/slideshow, in order to foster a meaningful dialogue between the artists and the residential community.
Artists interested in submitting should email Residency@CymbalDevelopment.com photos of up to five work pieces as well as an artist statement.
Applications are now being accepted and will remain so until February 15, 2022.
A carefully selected team of local art specialists will decide the winners, who will be notified by March 1, 2022. Artists will be able to move in on or after May 1, 2022.
