The Rooster Asset Tracking System Now Includes Sae J1939 Meter Reading and Reporting

Rooster LLC, a Kansas-based Construction Technology firm, revealed that their revolutionary Rooster Asset Tracking System now adds meter reading and reporting capability for heavy duty vehicles and construction equipment that uses the SAE J1939 data interchange standard.

This function is intended to enable tracking and viewing current equipment telemetry, such as the vehicle identifying number (VIN), fuel usage, and engine hours, easier. Carefully designed plug-and-play connections easily connect to equipment data or dedicated telematic ports, reducing installation time and effort.

“With Rooster we see equipment details, activity, fuel consumption and engine hours without leaving the office,” remarked Bryan Smith, President of Wolf Construction in Topeka, Kansas. “No checking dates written on filters or putting tape on windshields. Now we can monitor maintenance schedules, better understand ownership costs, and verify billable hours on the job,” he added.

Rooster Hubs, Rooster Activity Trackers, and the Rooster App gateway comprise the Rooster Asset Tracking System. Rooster Hubs are powerful data gateways that link to the Cloud via an integrated cellular connection to deliver accurate GPS position and equipment activity data for as little as $10 per month*. Rooster Activity Trackers are small, rugged devices that, once installed on any piece of equipment, capture activity on a minute-by-minute basis for up to 5 years and transmit that data to Rooster Hubs up to 12 miles away, and through most concrete and metal to Hubs nearby, using a long-range, low-power pairing protocol based on the LoRa communications standard and protected by over a dozen issued and pending patents.

“We’ve always been focused on giving construction companies the tools they need to efficiently and accurately do their jobs, without burdening them with complex, costly fleet management software or data-intense user displays,” said Cody Robison, Fleet Manager for Constellation Service Company. “Rooster is an intuitive tool that tracks and reports powered and unpowered tools and heavy equipment activity in a clean, clear way, and is priced to assure construction companies of any size can introduce technology with ease,” he added.

Rooster sells a $750 “Asset Tracking Starter Kit,” that comprises a Rooster Hub and its AC and Flying Lead power adapters, four Rooster Activity Trackers, and a set of four mounting choices (USD). Rooster.com offers expanded Rooster System packs, bulk prices, and a selection of accessories. Clients only pay for activated devices that are handled using the free desktop and mobile apps accessible on Google Play and the Apple App Store. By dialing 844-4ROOSTR, Rooster provides help videos, live customer support, and referrals to deployment partners (476-6787).

    * A membership to Rooster Activity Tracker costs $1.00 (USD) per month. The monthly subscription fee for Rooster Hub is $10.00 (USD). The price of equipment varies.
