Justrite Develops Groundbreaking Solution for the Growing Dangers of Lithium-Ion Battery Fires

This cutting-edge cabinet uses the unique 9-Layer ChargeGuard Containment System to minimize catastrophic losses from battery fires and thermal runaway.

In response to the crucial demand for safe lithium-ion battery storage and charging, Justrite has launched its cutting-edge Lithium-Ion Battery Charging Cabinet. This cutting-edge cabinet uses the unique 9-Layer ChargeGuard Containment System to minimize catastrophic losses from battery fires and thermal runaway.

The 9-Layer ChargeGuard Containment System is built of double-wall welded steel, vented door panels, and reinforced steel door latch plates to withstand explosions and keep the enclosure safe. It also has double-layer wire-mesh flame arrestors, an insulating air gap, and door hinge flame guards to keep heat and flames within.

It also includes spring-loaded dampers, a unique filtration system, and heat-activated expanding door seals to control the escape of harmful smoke and gasses. The crossflow fan ventilation keeps the cabinet cool, and its practical benchtop form, lockable doors, and small footprint make it a useful addition to any workspace.

The cabinet weighs 157 pounds and has dimensions of 24″ H by 43″ W by 18″ L. It has eight charging ports and runs on 120VAC/60Hz. With a Total Energy Containment Rating (TECR) of 2kWh, capacity fluctuates depending on battery energy levels.

Lithium-ion batteries, which are widely employed in modern technology, represent a major fire risk, as proven by the over 5,000 battery fire incidents documented each year. These batteries can be extremely explosive, emitting highly poisonous vapors and notoriously difficult to extinguish once ignited. The technology built into Justrite’s Lithium-Ion Battery Charging Cabinet is specifically designed to address and mitigate such risks by preventing fires and explosions while charging and storage.

Justrite provides a complete Risk Assessment solution to help businesses evaluate the risks connected with lithium-ion batteries. This assessment aids in the development of specific safety strategies for a variety of work situations.
